AN afternoon’s peaceful shopping at Sunshine Plaza was interrupted by the sounds of screams yesterday. But it was not because anything untoward had happened, it was merely that a 19-year-old musician had arrived to more than 200 girls who were waiting for him. Short Stack drummer Bradie Webb was on the Sunshine Coast yesterday to promote the band’s upcoming tour to the region and eager fans were on hand to welcome him. “He’s so cute and so nice and really nice to his fans,” 13-year-old Jasmine Kennerson said. She had been waiting with her friend Sarah Bartlem for two hours for the chance to see their hero and they were not disappointed. Through their giggles of delight the girls were able to explain that they first discovered the trio when it was last here in January. But despite the crowd outside being predominately made up of screaming teenage girls, there was at least one boy there waving the flag for fans possessing the XY chromosome. Nathan Shadur, 16, admitted that he became a Short Stack fan only when his girlfriend dragged him to a show. Yesterday, he was happily lining up with the girls to get an autograph. Short Stack will perform at The J in Noosa Junction on March 22. Tickets are available by calling 5455?4455. Click here to view photos from the instore at The Sunshine Coast’s website! SHORT STACK’s Far Northern fans have had a sneak preview of the band’s upcoming Cairns show with a meet and greet at Sanity. Adoring fans gathered at the Cairns Central record store yesterday to catch up with Bradie Webb, the drummer from the New South Wales Central Coast based band. Bradie is a regular visitor to the Far North, because his mum is from Cairns, but Short Stack has never performed here. Far Northern fans will finally get to see them on stage next month when they perform at Brothers. Cairns teen Maddie described the chance to meet Bradie as “the best day ever”. Bradie told timeOUT recently he’s looking forward to the March concert, despite Cairns’ tropical climate. “It’s a beautiful place, but I’m not a big fan of the hot weather, especially as a drummer,” he said. “We’ve never played in Cairns, although mum has been holding out for a while for that, so it’s gonna be great to get up there with the band, finally.” EXTERNAL LINK: |
